Single cell

A single cell being
is what I wish I were

Wonder what would it be like if
a single thought were to occupy my brain
a single sensation were to tingle my skin
a single emotion were to rescue my indifference
a single shadow were to elude me once again

Tracking the trail of that single drop of tear
which now rests for a brief moment
on my chin, waiting
to drop and stain the floor, or maybe not

A single point of view contradicts itself
in the vast confinements of a single cell
Oh well ~
A single shadow is what I chase
at least I now can rest, for I know
who or what that shadow is
