How can 59,017,382 people be so dumb?

Nothing has changed. It seems like that Tuesday never happened. It is eerily calm before the next storm of madness begins. Elect a Madman and you get madness.

How? Posted by Hello
Why are people so dumb in groups. One explanation is the 'Abilene Paradox'. The Paradox was first described in 1974 by Dr. Jerry Harvey, based on a real-life experience where four people agree as a group to miserably drive for hours through steaming heat in an un-airconditioned car to Abilene, Texas for lunch -despite the fact that each individually doesn't want to go at all.

Harvey's hypothesis is that fear of being left out of a group and the belief that any action is better than no action at all drives individuals to act against their own values and best interests.
